Taiwan and many European countries just use organic dried Rose buds it means that Roses should completely free of any pesticides and it’s very important for our customers in Taiwan to assure about this to pass SGS pesticides testing. This type of Rose buds is more expensive than the other types.

Introduction of Damask Rose:

Rosa damascena mill L, commonly known as Damask rose , is known as Gole Mohammadi in Iran . It is one of the most important species of Rosaceae family. Rosaceae are well- known ornamental plants and have been referred to as the king of flowers . At present time, over 200 rose species and more than 18000 cultivars form of the plant have been identified . Apart from the use of R. damascena as ornamental plants in parks, gardens, and houses, they are principally cultivated for using in perfume, medicine and food industry especially Rose tea. However, R. damascena is mainly known for its perfuming effects. The rose water were scattered at weddings to ensure a happy marriage and are symbol of love and purity and are also used to aid meditation and prayer.

There is a strong bond between Iranians and this plant. Its popularity is not only because of the medicinal effects but also is due to holy beliefs about it. People call this plant Flower of Prophet Mohammed (Gole mohammadi), because they believe it’s nice aroma reminds them of prophet Mohammad .

At the present time, this plant is cultivated in Iran (especially in FARS province) for preparing rose water and essential oil. Because of the low oil content in R. damascena and the lack of natural and synthetic substitutes, essential rose oil of this plant is one of the most expensive ones in the world markets.

According to special  climate condition , Iran has the highest level of  cultivation for Dried Rose buds and this is why the Iranian Rose buds has the best quality both in appearance and aroma.

Rosa Damascena traditional Usages:

The most therapeutic effects of DamaskRose in ancient medicine are including treatment of abdominal and chest pain, strengthening the heart , treatment of menstrual bleeding and digestive problems , and reduction of inflammation, especially of the neck . North American Indian tribes used a decoction of the root of R. damascena plant as a cough remedy to ease children’s cough . This plant is also used as a gentle laxative . Rose oil heals depression, grief, nervous stress and tension. It helps in the reduction of thirst, healing old caugh, special complaints of women, wound healing, and skin health. Vapor therapy of rose oil is helpful for some allergies, headaches, and migraine. It has been found that Rosa damascena exert an anti-diabetic effect. Oral administration of the methanol extract of this plant significantly decreased blood glucose after maltose loading in normal and diabetic rats in a dose- dependent manner.

One of the effects of dried Rose buds is on central nervous system is its hypnotic effect.

Recently, it has been reported that antioxidants reduce pain in formalin test (52). It has been reported that rose buds contains flavonoid (253,54). Therefore, it seems that these compounds have some role in the analgesic effect of the plant.

Iran damask rose has beneficial effects on the brain function such as treatment of dementia. Research about respiratory effect of iran rosa damascena is sparse and only our laboratory evaluated this effect.

Different commercial derivations from R. damascena

Nowadays, different commercial products are produced from rose flowers. They are including:

Rose essential oil or liquid gold is expensive yellow pale essential oil that is extracted by different commercial methods. Bulgaria, Turkey and Morocco are the main producers of rose essential oil in the world.1 The essential oil yield from Bulgarian rose varied from 0.032–0.049% (w/w).2

Iran Rose water or colorless liquid water with common name Golab (in Iran) due to its calming and relaxing properties is used in religious ceremonies like washing the God House in Mecca (Saudi Arabia) and also for flavoring the foods in Iran.

The dried  Rose buds and petals of rose are sold in groceries as flavor and laxative agents. In Iran, dried flowers are used as laxative agent and flavoring in foods.

Rose hips are the berry like fruits under the petals of flower. They are rich of vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, polyphenols, carotenoids and tannins34 The vitamin C content of rose hips is higher than citrus fruits.

Rose concrete, a red orange Vaseline mass is extracted by non polar solvent extraction and is the main material for production of rose absolute.

Rose absolute or the ethanol extract of rose concrete has an orange red liquid with rose aroma.5
